Well there was only one bear, but there were almost 100 golfers, plus dozens of volunteers and sponsors all supporting the 12th Annual
Putting for Paws Golf Tournament, the Meriden Humane Society’s
biggest event of the year.
August 20th was a beautiful day for golf and a great time was had by golfers and volunteers alike. This year, in particular, it took a village to make this highly anticipated event a success. Our Golf Committee started months in advance planning every detail from the food and beer to swag bag gifts, prizes, and raffle items. Our golfers were ensured a great experience from registration to the tournament itself where they were treated to all the amenities offered by our venue, Hawks Landing Country Club in Southington. Although golfer registrations were initially down this year, thanks to last minute pleas to you – our loyal supporters – our followers on social media, and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we ended up exceeding expectations for participating golfers. All of us at the Meriden Humane Society are beyond grateful for everyone who went out of their way to
hit up their friends in-person and on social media to help us register almost 30% of our golfers in the last 10 days before the tournament. It was an incredible effort and we can’t thank you enough for all of the help we clearly received.
